2. How to Get the Rann Permit (Important)
Since the White Desert is located near the international border, a permit is mandatory for all visitors. You can obtain it in two ways:
- Online : Visit the official Rann Permit Website to book in advance and avoid long queues.
- Offline : You can get it at the Bhirandiyara Checkpost by showing a valid ID proof (Aadhar Card, Driving License, etc.).
3. Major Attractions
- Sunset at Dhordo : Witnessing the sun go down over the white salt is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Full Moon Night : The desert glows like silver under the full moon light. It is the most beautiful time to visit.
- Kalo Dungar (Black Hill) : The highest point in Kutch, offering a panoramic view of the entire Great Rann.
4. Stay Options
From the luxurious Tent City to traditional Kutchi Bhungas (mud huts) in villages like Hodka and Dhordo, there are plenty of stay options for every budget.
5. How to Reach
The White Desert is about 80 km from Bhuj. You can hire a private taxi or take a bus. Bhuj is well-connected to major cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Delhi by rail and air.
