The Ancient History of Mata no Madh
The history of this temple dates back nearly 1500 years. According to local legends, a devotee named Devchand from the Karad Vania community performed deep penance for Maa Ashapura. The Goddess appeared in his dream and asked him to build a temple but gave a strict condition: not to open the doors for six months.
However, out of curiosity, Devchand opened the doors after five months. He found that the idol was only partially formed (up to the knees). Even today, the idol worshipped in the temple is the same self-manifested, half-formed statue of Maa Ashapura.
